Athletes, especially among new athletes, will find that the hook grip\ncan cause small blisters. Athletes will also find that in high rep work the\nhook grip can become a bit uncomfortable. Utilizing an elastic thumb tape can\nhelp alleviate this discomfort and improve the grip where the thumb meets the\nbar. It is not recommended to use traditional, non-elastic tape as this\ndecreases the range of motion of the thumb. Where you start\nthe tape on your thumb does not matter. It is where the tape ends. The end of\nthe tape should end on top of your thumb (same side as your fingernail). This\nprevents curling and rolling. 2. You should always apply tape to dry hands\nPRIOR to beginning a workout. If you apply the tape to chalked up, sweaty\nhands, it will not stick correctly.
